Putting a Name to a Face
This used to be One-of-the-kids-who-sell-magazines
We met each other a few months ago
I was on my way to work in an auto
He was selling magazines
He approached me and tried to sell me a magazine
I shook my head and waited for the light to turn green
This was our routine
Everyday
From Monday to Friday
Around 10:00 am in the morning
Gradually we started to recognise each other
With little smiles
He was no longer just another faceless little kid selling magazines
And I was no longer just another customer who ignored him
Today I could finally put a name to the face
This is Pankaj
And he is 14 years old (or so he says)
That is all I know about him
For now

A little permanent reminder
Like a new-born baby
I came out
Screaming
Struggling
Bloody and raw
Angry for being taken out
Confused without that familiar heartbeat
Scared with the new surroundings
Then it was cut
The umbilical cord
Severing all ties
Destroying all memories
Creating a lacuna
Leaving me with nothing
Except a scar
A little permanent reminder
That you were once the centre of my world
I came out
Screaming
Struggling
Bloody and raw
Angry for being taken out
Confused without that familiar heartbeat
Scared with the new surroundings
Then it was cut
The umbilical cord
Severing all ties
Destroying all memories
Creating a lacuna
Leaving me with nothing
Except a scar
A little permanent reminder
That you were once the centre of my world

1000 Months
I just realised that it's going to be nearly two years since I last wrote. That's a long time especially if the average lifespan of a person is about 1000 months. I have no idea how I managed to let 24 months go by without even realising it. A lot has happened - the good, the bad, the ugly and the uglier. Right now I just feel exhausted and awkward not knowing what to write or more like how to proceed. I have about 700 months left. Let's see what I do with them.
